East London Innovators are disrupting their sectors by using their knowledge and passion to tackle real life problems within the East London community.

Lead designer throughout end-to-end process: User requirements, sketching, wireframes, design definition, testing and support at launch.
The brief was to create a digital / interactive experience for the East London Innovator awards. This would enable each innovator to be celebrated and showcased to a wider audience. Here's the issue, the website would need to adapt throughout the year at different stages of the awards cycle. Starting from submitting a nomination, all the way through to announcing the winners - it required a flexible approach.
I started off by breaking down the yearly cycle into 3 key stages:
State 1: Submitting nominations and displaying key dates
State 2: Nominations closed and judge information
State 3: 50 winners announced, start gearing up for next year
After which I was able to design a user journey for each state, building-up the content and features from there. Another difficulty was that a clear design direction needed to be defined. It had to adhere to the Here East style guide as a base, i.e colours and typography, but also branching out into something different to distinguish the awards. My approach was to create a predominantly 50/50 master grid with a strong typographic aesthetic. Bold typography with the charcoal and mint colour palette to create a clean, yet ownable design.
